  22. My ISP is using USR Total Control rackmounts and the local phone company is
  23. using Channel Banks to provide the lines.  The result has been disastrous. 
  24. Regardless of line quality, connect speeds for users dropped a notch (i.e. if
  25. they were previously getting 28.8, now they only get 26.4, if they're lucky). 
  26. No one can get a 28.8 or higher any longer.  The ISP has had onsite support
  27. with USR engineers and the phone company and they finally determined that the
  28. problem lies with the channel banks.  A test line was run straight from the CO
  29. switch to a rack of Total Controls.  That test setup produces 28.8 and higher
  30. connections consistantly.

  32. So, in short, look to some other solution besides channel banks.  They are
  33. fine for low-speed work, but for 28.8 and higher, they just don't cut it.

  37. BTW, my ISP is now experimenting with PRI to the Total Control racks.  PRI
  38. seems to be a much better solution (PRI is 24 64kb ISDN lines).
